Happy Valentine's Day

February 14 is Valentine's Day, I stayed at home and did not go anywhere because it’s too crowded. In Taiwan, this festival has been commercialized. If there are no flowers, no presents or any sumptuous meals, people consider something is lack. From my point of view, I believe that something made by myself is more valuable. If two people treat each other wholeheartedly, in that case, everyday is Valentine's Day.

Diet

I have gained 20 pounds in one and half years during my staying in the States. Therefore, the first thing I must do after I come back to Taiwan, DIET. I planned to lose at least 30 pounds. “No more high calories American food” I said to myself.

The Los Angeles Subway

Los Angeles is the largest city in California; it is the second largest city in the United States. The subway of L.A., from the tourist's angle, is inconvenient. There are few sightseeing places that can be reached by subway directly. In most areas, you must use the bus. There are good directions to travel by car, but not for the public transportation system. Compared to this system in Los Angeles, the New York subway is better than Los Angeles. Most subway stations don’t have an information service center, and there is no staff in there, so it is very difficult to ask questions. Last, they don’t have a machine that checks the ticket, but staff will spot check the ticket on the subway.

The Nice Trip

On January 21, 2007, I took the China Airline in LAX to leave for Taipei, Taiwan. I was supposed to reach the airport three hours in advance because of international flight. When I arrived to the airport, instead of checking in, the airline company asked me to do luggage security checking first. After that, Staff helped me to take the luggage to finish check-in. After 9/11, US government made security high priority to prevent terrorist suicide attack. The passengers were less than I expected, and nobody sat beside me; therefore, I could lie on the seat during the trip. After 14 hours flying, the plane landed Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport safely.
